( week 3 ) friday afternoon, jay & dipper

[chie's not really cut out to be an on-the-scene detective; it's why she's thankful she's only found residue during her investigations so far, not an actual body. she says she's dealt with bodies before, but not freshly murdered ones, and she'd like to keep it that way...

she'd forgone exploring areas for signs of murder this week, instead opting to... do her laundry, and stay out of the action. she still doesn't trust herself around others after this week's night terrors, even though she knows they've ended today. she's scared of what could happen if she got too paranoid.

despite her best efforts, though, she still manages to run into two people who are somehow shorter than she is. she's familiar with the both of them herself, but she's surprised to see them roaming around together. excuse the pile of haphazardly folded clothes in her arms.]

Huh, I didn't know you two were friends.

[dipper has a momentary "is she srs" look, but then he thinks about it]

Huh. D'you know anything about his inter-dimensional skill thing?

Nah. But to be fair, I haven't told him my role, either.

... In fact, you guys are the only people I've told so far.

[dipper "did i just spill an important secret because of periods" pines]

Yukina and Kaito know mine. I was more or less forced to reveal it.

[ he sounds annoyed by it. ]

[she glances at both of them quickly, studying both of them as well as she can in about a second.]

You're pretty much a given—[she nods at jay, then turns her attention to dipper]—but how good are you at keeping secrets?

[with the eagerness of the child he is:]

I can keep a secret!! [... awkwardly clears throat and tries to play it cool] I mean. I'm pretty good. Preeeetty good. Yep. [raising an eyebrow and trying to look serious]

[ he looks at dipper.... then back at chie. ]

As far as I know he hasn't sold me out yet, so.

I haven't, and I wouldn't.

... Good. I haven't told anyone about yours either, by the way.

[ i mean not like dipper has to believe him but

jay would prefer dipper still alive. ]

... You guys wanna work together then? Like, officially, to try and survive this mess? Keep an eye out for each other, share info we find out, all that kind of stuff?

[there's a bit of blatant hesitation there, and Dipper deliberately looks at Jay during it, but then he nods]

...Yeah. I'd be okay with that.

[ninjay]

We've already shared our roles, so we might as well make use of that, I suppose.

[ he looks at them both. ]

Let's hope this ends well for all of us.

[damn chie and her big trusting heart.]

I believe in us.

[and with that, she extends her hand before them, palm down, completely forgetting that the only reason any of this happened was because dipper and jay did not want to think about the menstrual cycle anymore. are you ready for teambuilding exercises]

[Dipper can't help but laugh a bit at that, setting his hand on top of hers]

Maybe don't sound too optimistic.

I have confidence? Just a reasonable amount of it.

Oh, if we're going to be sharing info, I guess you should know there's a secret passageway and/or portal that goes to the lobby mirror and the bedroom mirrors.
