( week 5 ) friday night, heather

[before chie turns in for the night—she's got guests tonight, she doesn't want to stay out too late—she goes to check on the people she still feels like she can trust. those souls are few and far between these days.

heather will hear a knock on her door, followed by chie's voice, which is softer than usual.]

Hey... you okay?
ungodly: (just like you)

No.

[ chie can hear heather saying this before she even opens the door. she's just being honest. chie can probably pick up on the tinge of irony behind it, though. when all your other defenses are gone, you can at least fall back on being ruefully sarcastic.

once heather gets the door open, chie will notice the dark circles around her eyes are even darker and puffier than they typically are. looks like she's been losing sleep.. or maybe crying. ]

I don't think I'll be okay any time soon. You're gonna have to take a rain check on that one.

Don't worry about it. It'll be over soon, right? We're probably.. all gonna die.

[ she doesn't object to chie's touch to her shoulder. if anything, it's nice for someone to touch her now — because she was starting to feel very numb, very indifferent to the world. why go to the trial when she knew it'd just end in something terrible? ]

You don't deserve this, Chie. You should be a normal girl, living a normal life right now.
