[chie's been running around a lot tonight. what a chatterbug. before curfew falls, she catches jay and tells him to meet at their usual spot. things are very convenient when your roommate is dead. luckily, dipper and mabel have yet to arrive to stay the night, so they can have a little privacy.

once he arrives, she wastes no time in getting to the point.]

So we don't waste time arguing in circles tomorrow... who did your group kill this week?
wristbands: (Cease negative mental chattering.)
[before chie turns in for the night—she's got guests tonight, she doesn't want to stay out too late—she goes to check on the people she still feels like she can trust. those souls are few and far between these days.

heather will hear a knock on her door, followed by chie's voice, which is softer than usual.]

Hey... you okay?

[friday's always, for lack of a better phrase, a tense time in yuggoth. a Lot sure happened today, and a Lot of people sure died. at least these two are still alive, for the time being.

wherever kaito is after the investigation findings have been shared, chie once again seeks him out this week.]

How's your jaw?
wristbands: (The change is from inner to outer.)
[it's been close to a full twenty four hours since dipper and mabel's disappearance, and the twins still have yet to be located. a lot of things about yuggoth have broken her resolve at this point, but even so, chie wants to believe that they're okay—they have to be okay. they never deserved any of this in the first place.

chie remembers how desolate dirk had been when the hands had suddenly taken the twins, the way he desperately clawed at the ground as if he could tunnel into the earth and fight through hell itself to bring them back himself. he clearly cared about them as much as she did herself... maybe they can find some common footing, she thinks.

wherever he is on monday morning, chie approaches him, waving her good hand in greeting with a weak smile to accompany it.]

Hey... remember what you told me about being careful about tetanus? Karma decided to bite me in the ass.

[as soon as they're back at the motel after the execution, chie wastes no time in tracking down jay. normally she'd pull him, but her hand is full—literally, despite her act of defiance at the pool, she went and got a slice of meat lover's anyway—so that's out of the question.

instead, she, uh, taps his shoulder with her stump. in a hushed, hurried tone—obscured by both her attempt to stay unheard and also the pizza in her mouth—she mutters,]

We gotta talk. My room. Ten minutes.

[sometime after the surviving residents of the motel have settled, chie begins to seek out specific people. namely, those who had, ah... helped her out on thursday.

kaito will be receiving a solemn knock on his door about an hour after the trial has concluded.]

Hey. It's Chie. Can I come in?
wristbands: (pic#2056818)
[suffice to say, chie had a Rough Day yesterday. she's currently in the lounge, bent over one of the coffee tables. it's early enough that most of the motel's residents are probably still asleep; she's just always been an early riser.

it looks like she's trying to wrap bandages around her right hand, but given that it's her dominant hand, she's having a little bit of trouble. it doesn't help that in addition to her actual physical impediments, she's picturing shadowy tendrils snaking around from her back. she's trying really hard to ignore that right now, in favor of her first aid attempt... which is pretty clearly failing.]

Shit, c-come on...
wristbands: (pic#11461788)
[so that was. a lot. that's really all that needs to be said on the matter.

when they are all back at the motel, instead of letting him seek her out, she is approaching him first, for once. her eyes are still puffy from crying, her voice still strained from yelling.]

Hey... thanks. For earlier.
wristbands: (pic#11443227)
[when kaiba comes back to room 108 tonight, he'll find that chie has beat him to the punch (ha). while she usually prefers to sleep either on her side or her stomach, tonight she is facing up—and she is definitely not asleep. her eyes are wide open as she stares at the ceiling, not even bothering to turn and acknowledge his entry. she merely says, in a very weak voice,]

Hey.
wristbands: (pic#11452720)
[chie's not really cut out to be an on-the-scene detective; it's why she's thankful she's only found residue during her investigations so far, not an actual body. she says she's dealt with bodies before, but not freshly murdered ones, and she'd like to keep it that way...

she'd forgone exploring areas for signs of murder this week, instead opting to... do her laundry, and stay out of the action. she still doesn't trust herself around others after this week's night terrors, even though she knows they've ended today. she's scared of what could happen if she got too paranoid.

despite her best efforts, though, she still manages to run into two people who are somehow shorter than she is. she's familiar with the both of them herself, but she's surprised to see them roaming around together. excuse the pile of haphazardly folded clothes in her arms.]

Huh, I didn't know you two were friends.
wristbands: (pic#11452730)
[look. a lot has happened today. there was yelling, lemon squeezing, tentacle dicking, corpse burning, and arm wrestling (hypothetically for some, literally for others). let chie live for the rest of the night.

something tells her she's not going to get to rest that easily, though, even at this late—but pre-curfew—hour. who's that coming to find her staring at the ceiling in the lounge tonight?]
wristbands: (pic#11452697)
[so. that trial sure just happened. let's... leave that in the past.

what matters now is the present, and in the present they've decided on a guilty party. all that remains is choosing an executioner for tomorrow, and that's been left to a democracy as well... chie's going to at least check on the ones she's more familiar with. first stop, heather mason. wherever heather took off to post-trial, chie's followed a few steps behind. once they're separated from most of the group, she'll approach closer.]

I'm guessing you saw the new poll.
wristbands: (pic#11452708)
[once all the fervor over today's investigation has died down (hoo boy), chie seeks out a particular someone from room 102 whose actions she'd heard about through the grapevine...]

Dipper, did you seriously go to the dark room again?
wristbands: (pic#4085304)
[chie has always woken up at the crack of dawn to get in a morning run; it's a habit that hasn't changed, even after her arrival at the motel. it's strange, really, to be doing something as innocuous as this in the situation the temporary residents of yuggoth have found themselves in. but at the same time, it's... a coping mechanism. she just doesn't know any other way, doesn't know how to deal with this otherwise.

in a clearing by the hunting lodge, she sits on a slightly rotted stump as she awaits her sparring partner. when he approaches, she stands up and folds her hands behind her back.]

You know, I don't think we ever introduced ourselves properly. It's not like we don't know each other's names, but... there's just something about actually exchanging that kind of thing on our own terms, right?
